Hazmat Technician Level and Hazmat Specialist Certification
 
Hazardous Materials Technician, Level A-D (160 Hours)

Prerequisite: Haz Mat First Responder Operations (Equivalent to Title 19 CCR
2520 (b)
 
This 160 hour program was developed to provide Fire Service, Law Enforcement, Health Agencies and Private Industry participants the knowledge and skills needed to perform as a member of a Hazmat WMD Response Team. 
 
Classroom presentations are combined with intensive field exercise to provide the participant practical experience. The course is designed to meet the OSHA training requirements found in Title 8 CCR 5192 (q) (6) (C) [or 29CFR 1910.120 (q) (6) (iii)] and the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) document NFPA 472.  
 
This course is Department of Homeland Security Grants and Training (G&T) certified and Pro-Board Approved.  Course completion certificates will be given upon finishing each module.  Successful completion of the first four modules of the Technician series A-D certifies participants by CalEMA/CSTI at the Technician level.
 
 
Hazmat Specialist Level F-G (80 Hours)

Prerequisite: CSTI Hazmat Technician Level Certification
 
Upon successful completion of the CSTI certified Hazmat Technician series individuals are eligible to continue on to the final two modules of the series: Special Mitigation Techniques (F) and Tactical Field Operations (G) courses. Participants completing the entire series will be certified by Cal EMA/CSTI at the Hazardous Materials Specialist Level.
